[Course Aim]
Optical fiber communication systems are high-capacity, long-distance communication systems that have become indispensable for the information transmission functions of the current Internet. Furthermore, with the recent advances in AI, they are also being used to connect information devices over short distances, such as within data centers that store big data. Such systems consist of a combination of various optical devices, including optical fibers and semiconductor lasers. The objective of this lecture is to understand the current optical communication systems by learning about the physics of these devices.
